From Edinburgh follow A68 south (heading for Newtown St Boswells), at the Ravenswood Roundabout take the first exit staying on A68, you will see the golf course on your left hand side, the entrance is NOT the gated one but on the left 200 yards further on, follow the road round to the Greenkeepers sheds - I will put something at the junction as it is not very big or signposted.
Check out Monksford House on Google Maps satellite view to see lay-out of course. (post code is TD6 0RU)
Access to course which is on the east side of the A68, is via stables entrance (not main entrance) directly off A68 just North of Newtown St Boswells

Ailsa Bain - Clark Rosebowl

Current Border champion, Ailsa Bain from Peebles beat Rachel Hanlon (St Regulus) by 1 hole in the final to win the Clark Rosebowl (2nd flight) at the Scottish Ladies Amateur Championship today.  Well done Ailsa

Monday 9 May 2011

Congratulations to Ailsa on winning the County Championship and also to Wendy on winning the Bronze division. Very well played Leanne on reaching the final - having gone from Bronze division champion in 2010 to runner up in the Silver division this year is a great achievement. Well done also to Kath Fletcher, runner up in the Bronze division.

My thanks to Gillian and all who helped out at the weekend in my absence, I was disappointed not to be at the Roxburghe to see some of the golf on display from the players in both divisions but especially our younger players Ailsa, Leanne, Danielle and Tara.

Sunday 8 May 2011

Championship Finals day 2011

In the first semi final of the day Leanne Wilson (Kelso) beat Danielle Ker (Roxburghe), she sunk a putt from off the green on the 16th to seal the match 3 & 2.  Ailsa Bain (Peebles) won her semi final against Tara Mactaggart (Minto) on the 15th.

Leanne Wilson, only 14 years old who has a handicap of 16, was last year's bronze division champion. She had played really steady golf over the two days and did extremely well to get to the final but found it difficult against the more experienced 19 year old Ailsa, a previous Scottish U18 champion, who won easily 7 & 5

Wendy Underhill (Hawick) beat Kath Fletcher (Hirsel) on the 16th in the bronze final.
Prizewinners (L to R)
Danielle Ker, Tara Mactaggart, Leanne Wilson, Ailsa Bain, Wendy Underhill, Kath Fletcher
