Finals day at The Roxburghe

In the first semi Carina Buyan was 2 up after 4 against Julie Birdsall who fought back winning 4 holes on the bounce to be 2 up after 9,  Carina then steadied herself to play par golf eventually winning 4&3

Dani Ker took charge of the second semi-final against Sharon Paterson from the start and after a mistake at the 8th which was rectified with a birdie at 9 she was 4 up at the turn, Sharon won the 10th, they halved the 11th and 12th, Dani then won the 13th to get back to 4 up.  Dani lost a ball at 14 which was conceded but a long birdie putt finished the game at the 15th.

So it was an all Roxburghe final with Carina up against Dani. It was a nervy start from both with Carina winning the first with a 5 after Dani had to chip out from the trees. Dani pulled it back to be 1 up after 4, both had excellent birdies at the long 5th, unfortunately Carina missed a couple of short putts which left her 3 down at the turn, she won the 11th after Dani 3 putted.  Carina conceded the 13th after having issues with the pond to take Dani to 4 up.  Carina pulled it back to 3 after Dani had to take a drop back into the fairway bunker at the 14th after she plugged her ball in the face when trying to get out.  The next two holes were halved, Dani won the match at the 16th 3&2

In the bronze championship semi-finals,13 year old Rhea Middlemass (Hawick) put herself into a position to make it 3 in a row by beating Elaine Brotherstone (Lauder) easily 8 & 7.  The other match was a close one with June Craig (Selkirk) eventually overcoming Diane Johnstone (Duns) by a hole.

The final between Rhea and June was a one sided affair with Rhea winning on the 13th.
